Description

BMIT (Business, Marketing, and Management and Information Technology) High School Teacher

Young people can only dream as big as they’ve seen. A program of the nonprofit Rabble Mill, The Bay is known for its unique approach to serving underserved youth. In fall 2022, Lincoln Public Schools, The Bay, and several Nebraska businesses are partnering to create the Bay High Focus Program. Beginning with a student body of approximately 100 high school juniors and seniors, Bay High will provide creative, entrepreneurial-minded students with the tools, access and stewardship to be successful creators of tomorrow.

Bay High’s curriculum is focused on content creation and emerging digital technology in four subject areas: including photography and videography, coding and development, design and digital asset creation and digital storytelling and podcasting. It’s rooted in hands-on, project-based initiatives that go beyond the classroom — reflecting the increasing demand for creativity in today’s business environment, as well as new innovative ways of learning that connect best with Gen Z. In line with The Bay’s engagement opportunities for young people, skateboarding, music and fashion will serve as associated creative disciplines.

To help us drive our strategic and creative vision forward, we’re seeking an inspirational teaching professional to join our Bay High academic team.

The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge to teach and inspire across a range of creative business, marketing and branding subjects. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their academic support success through collaboration, communication, and delivering enhanced educational experiences and outcomes. This person will be an advocate for the cultural, societal and economic value of creative media, and they will help develop an innovative program to promote an inclusive, immersive learning environment.

The candidate will be culturally competent and able to work with a variety of stakeholders, including internal and external parties spanning business, creative industry, and community. Ideally, the successful candidate will bring a network of diverse and strong professional relationships. Most importantly, they will advocate for and promote a diverse student body; and they will uphold and honor the dignity of all Bay High students regardless of their background or socioeconomic status. The candidate should inform and inspire students, and adequately support and prepare youth for career or secondary studies. They will develop strategies to motivate and engage students in comprehension, conceptualization, executing and evaluating creative learning.

The candidate must be eligible for a Nebraska teaching certificate endorsed in Business, Marketing, and Information Technology (BMIT). Visit the Nebraska Department of Education website to determine eligibility and for any questions regarding the process of applying for certification: https://www.education.ne.gov/tcert/.
