Location:  Federal Programs/Belmont Elementary School

 

Belmont Elementary is seeking a Family Literacy Specialist to initiate and coordinate the components of the Family Literacy Program throughout the school year.  Applicants must possess good communication skills, content knowledge, organization skills, and the ability to work with parents, building principal, CLC staff, and other community agencies. 

 

Specific responsibilities will include: scheduling and conducting parenting classes; working with the EL instructor; meetings with school principal, teachers, and parents to confer on learning plans in an effort to develop a positive working relationship; coordinating bilingual liaisons for classes as appropriate; work on building family engagement efforts; work with family literacy childcare staff and assist in creating activities and setting goals for students; completion of all required forms and reports.

 

Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours.  Experience in working with individuals with cultural and/or ethnic differences is preferred.  

 

Work schedule: 8:15 am to 11:15 am 

 

Pay: $20.97/hour

 

Calendar: 183 days
